Our Process
-
Cleaning
Our process always starts with a thorough cleaning of each piece
We begin by cleaning the piece with a TSP or Degreaser and rinsing everything with water
Any wax, nail polish, paint, that is not part of the original finish will be removed. Generally, we do not strip existing finishes. Modern primers adhere well to most surfaces and unless there is something wrong with the finish we do not remove it.

Sanding, Filling, Base Prime
We try our best to fill any nicks, damage, missing veneer, etc. before painting. We cannot guarantee 100% fill on all pieces but it will look almost new!
Sanding is started with a scuff sand typically of 180-220 to abrade the finish and make a good base to prime. From there, a process which we call our “Base Prime” is used. We believe that this is what makes our process different from most. We do not use a one size fits all approach to priming. We have a stock of 5-6 different primers which all have their unique purposes depending on the finish on your piece, the color of stains or damage on the piece, and the amount of grain.
-
Color Coat or Paint
After sanding and base prime, we sand the primer back again and apply at least two but typically three color coats. Depending on the sheen this can be the final coat or one more topcoat applied after.
For our centurion water based finish, the color coat and topcoat are applied at the same time. For gloss lacquers, a base color coat is applied then a gloss clear coat applied after. A full sand is done between every coat.

Staging and Reassembly
We love to get pictures of all pieces we do so after re assembling, we typically stage and get some great photos of the piece! At this time shipping will be discussed with the client if that was arranged.
